HSE Coordinator
Helping Growing Companies Keep Their People Safe, Their Projects Moving, and Their Certifications Intact.
This page is for candidates applying to the HSE Coordinator role at Hutton Safety Group in Calgary, Alberta.
If you landed here from a job ad, you’re in the right place.
Read the details below before you decide to apply.
What the HSE Coordinator Role Is
The HSE Coordinator role is:
The day-to-day safety lead for two client groups; and
The day-to-day leader for two HSE Administrators
You are the control tower that keeps documentation, training, and safety systems moving at the right standard, on time, every time.
This is a full-time, in-office role based in Calgary.
No hybrid. No remote. No exceptions.
What You’ll Own
For your assigned client groups, you are accountable for:
Core Deliverable on Target Dates
Onboards, Daily Certificate Reviews, safety bulletins, COR/SECOR compliance reports, statistics, compliance sites, and COR milestones
Client HSE Inboxes Under Control
Every email needing action is answered, delegated in Asana, scheduled, or escalated. No black holes.
Admin Team Performance
Your two HSE Administrators understand the standard, follow documented processes, and improve through your coaching. Tasks are not quietly pushed or left floating.
Momentum on Risk Items
Incidents, corrective actions, stats and COR action items keep moving until they are closed, with clear owners and dates.
If something in your group stalls, you own getting it moving again.
What Your Day Actually Looks Like
In the office, most days you will:
Scan client inboxes and Asana for stop-work issues, deadlines and risks
Join daily huddles to raise urgent needs and capacity concerns
Answer admin questions, review their work, and approve or deny task pushes
Coordinate with clients, Advisors and the tech team to unblock site access, move COR milestones and prep for audits
Block focused time for the work only you can do: compliance reports, statistics, audit preparation, and action plans
End the day with your inboxes addressed and tomorrow’s priorities set
Non-Negotiables (Who This Is For)
This role will fit you if:
You are detail-obsessed: wrong dates, names or versions are unacceptable to you
You keep a clean inbox and task list: you live near inbox zero and hate loose ends
You have strong ownership and urgency: you don’t wait to be reminded and you escalate early
You are a calm, direct leader: you can coach and hold people accountable without drama
You care deeply about client outcomes: audits passed, certifications kept, workers starting on time
If you want loosely defined days and “I did my part”, this will be a bad fit.
If you want to own results and lead a small team, you’ll enjoy it.
What Success Looks Like in Your First 90 Days
By the end of your first three months, we’ll consider you on track if:
You can explain each client’s HSE programs and key risks without notes
Your client inboxes and Asana boards are current and under control, even during busy weeks
Your admins know exactly what “good” looks like and are improving under your coaching
Incidents, stats and COR milestones in your groups are moving weekly with clear owners and dates
