HSE Coordinator

Not Every HSE Role Looks the Same. This One Definitely Doesn’t.

At Hutton Safety Group, our HSE Coordinators do more than manage paperwork and track compliance.

They keep client safety operations moving, solve problems, develop team members, and make sure commitments are delivered.

You'll work across multiple clients, industries, and systems, often with competing priorities and tight deadlines. One day might involve coordinating a COR audit, the next resolving a compliance issue, reviewing an Administrator's work, or helping a client navigate an operational challenge.

We're looking for someone who can manage that variety without losing sight of the details.

Someone who takes ownership, communicates early, and doesn't need to be reminded to follow through.

If that sounds like you, keep reading.

Who We Are

Hutton Safety Group acts as the fractional health and safety department for scaling, high-risk companies across Western Canada.

We help businesses build and maintain safety systems that make them measurably safer and more profitable, without the overhead of a traditional in-house department.

Our clients rely on us to manage the details, anticipate problems, and deliver practical solutions that work in the real world.

That means our team needs to be organized, adaptable, and accountable.

We don't just identify what needs to be done. We make sure it gets done.

What This Role Actually Looks Like

As an HSE Coordinator, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of safety services across assigned client groups.

You'll work closely with HSE Advisors, Administrators, and our Operations team to keep client deliverables on track, maintain compliance, and support the development of the people around you.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Client Management: Overseeing recurring client deliverables, onboarding requirements, compliance activities, and operational priorities.

  • Team Development: Coaching HSE Administrators, reviewing their work, providing feedback, and helping them become more independent.

  • Compliance & Auditing: Coordinating COR/SECOR requirements, audit preparation, corrective actions, and ongoing compliance monitoring.

  • Systems & Reporting: Maintaining HSE statistics, reviewing documentation, and monitoring platforms such as Workhub, ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, and Avetta.

  • Operational Coordination: Supporting safety meetings, health and safety committee activities, emergency response drills, and other client requirements.

  • Communication & Follow-Through: Keeping clients and internal teams informed, maintaining accurate records in Asana, and identifying potential issues before they become problems.

You'll report to the Director of Operations, but you'll be expected to take ownership of your assigned responsibilities and manage your work independently.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first year, we want to see you confidently managing assigned client groups, consistently delivering accurate work on time, and helping the Administrators you support become stronger in their roles.

You'll know what's happening with your clients, what needs attention, and what needs to happen next

And when something isn't going according to plan, you'll be the person who raises it early and helps find a solution.

Is This The Right Role for You?

You'll likely do well here if you:

  • Have experience in HSE coordination, compliance, or safety administration and understand the importance of getting the details right.

  • Enjoy managing multiple clients, projects, and priorities without needing constant direction.

  • Are comfortable reviewing other people's work, providing constructive feedback, and holding others accountable.

  • Communicate confidently and professionally with clients and colleagues.

  • Can identify problems, take initiative, and find practical solutions.

  • Are comfortable working in different software platforms and learning new systems.

  • Take pride in being reliable, organized, and someone others can count on.
